Ngorongoro Crater: Nearly three million years old, the ancient caldera of the once-volcanic Ngorongoro shelters one of the most beautiful wildlife havens on earth, ringed with towering walls and sheltering forests, grasslands, fresh springs and a large soda lake. Nearby Olduvai Gorge – a famous early archaeological site – is situated to the west of the Crater in the eastern Serengeti Plains. In the Ngorongoro conservation area, 42 000 Maasai live and herd their livestock in harmony with Africa’s wild animals.

Lake Manyara: A Tree Lodge is set in the heart of a mahogany forest, and is the only lodge in the diverse Lake Manyara National Park in northern Tanzania. It is the newest addition of luxury safari lodges on the northern Tanzanian safari circuit. From soaring groundwater forests and a tranquil lake, to the mountain escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara National Park boasts an incredible wealth of habitats and diverse African wildlife. Guests are offered an exciting, interpretive safari experience in game-rich surrounds which include large herds of elephant and buffalo. The Lodge, which was designed to exert minimal impact on the environment, is situated in the remote southwestern region of the Park.

Grumeti Game Reserve is situated in a remote valley in the western corridor of the Serengeti National Park, just 31 miles east of Lake Victoria – Africa’s largest lake. Flanked by two hillsides, this flamboyant camp overlooks a bywater of the Grumeti River and offers a comfortable haven from which to experience the truly wild pulse of Africa. Every year during Africa’s annual Great Migration, hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, zebra and other herbivores cross the Grumeti River, risking the jaws of some of the largest crocodiles on earth. Large pods of hippo grunt from their watery hideaway below the camp and black-and-white Colobus monkeys live in Grumeti’s bird-filled riverine trees. At night, the nocturnal orchestra of owls and bush babies is punctuated by the primeval sounds of lion and hyena.

Klein’s Concession is situated deep in the heart of the game-rich northern Serengeti in Tanzania – right off the beaten tourist track. Its 24 800-acre private wildlife concession – leased from our Maasai landlords – is allotted for the exclusive use of the camp’s 20 guests, offering you the ultimate personal Tanzania safari. With Kenya’s Masai Mara National Park to the north and the Serengeti to the west, Klein’s is one of the most strategically positioned wildlife sanctuaries in the world. The camp is set on the edge of the Kuka Hills, commanding breathtaking views of the valley through which hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra migrate, in addition to excellent year-round game viewing. Action-packed night game-drives and extensive bush walks into the Serengeti are unique in Tanzania and an absolute highlight.

Best of Tanzania Safari:

This safari combines three of Tanzania's national parks and game reserves and includes: Lake Manyara - a birding paradise (with more than 380 species), especially for waterfowl and migrants, and the forests are one of the best places to see leopards. Lions hunt on the grassy shores of the lake, and are known for their habit of climbing trees. We visit Serengeti National Park - famous for its vast migratory herds of animals, particularly wildebeest, zebra, eland and kudu and Ngorongoro Crater Conservancy - providing protection and a natural enclosure for animals in an environment of great natural beauty.
